CPU H/W 1 Macauley Gibb

C.P.U

Description
C.P.U stands for Central Processing Unit and is the brains of any computer. It is an internal component for a device such as a computer. CPU's Often Have their own fans to cool them as they normally overheat if they do not, this can lead to a system crash or even cause your CPU to become unusable.

Multi Processing
A computer can have more than one CPU. This is called multiprocessing. All modern CPUs are microprocessors, meaning contained on a single chip. Some integrated circuits (ICs) can contain multiple CPUs on a single chip; those ICs are called multi-core processors.

Clock Rate
The Clock rate of a CPU you the speed of which it executes instructions, the faster the clock, the more instructions the CPU can execute per second. The clock rate is generally measured in hertz.

Types

There are two main types of CPUs found in computers today: 32-bit and 64-bit. In addition to this, CPUs can be broken down into types based on the manufacturer and version as well.
